That's interesting. Checking around the net yesterday, I saw lots of comments that people liked the neck better than a Fender, but they didn't say what they liked. Are all of those old Peavey's 1 3/4 nut?

I like the neck because of the 1 3/4 nut, its maple, flatter 12" radius, thinner profile (not a bat) and has micro tilt. It fits/feels more like an acoustic neck than the narrow and smaller radius fender necks. The mia peaveys have solid necks and bodies...but the tuners, pots, switches and pick guards are ehhh.

So easy diy mods to both the strat and tele peaveys: Locking tuners, bone nuts, (tele has a refret done be for I got it), cts pots, new 5/3 way switches, old piw caps, strat 56 pv pick up set and iirc for the tele 54 pu set and complete shielding of the pu cavities and pick guards. Blocked the trem on the strat. So in total probably have $400 total in each git. But I think they play better and sound just as good as a Fender CS.

Btw I also had a CarvinDC135 ssh neck through strat with locking tuners ebony board and ss frets that was very nice...but was not getting played...so sold it off to fund some pedals.

Edit: on the local CL there's a peavey tele...un molested for $400...imho its too spendy...since I got mine for <$100...just be patient.
