Default Is that a Martin 000-42 she's playin'

I say playin' not playing because the she is Sienna Ferrell, my new favorite girl picker.

See all of her stuff, or a lot of it, on the excellent YouTube channel, "Western AF," and then come back and tell us what the AF is all about.

Here's one, there are more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MekiBNW142Y&loop=0

There is a whole lot of C&W not to like, but that's my opinion. Way too much overproduced formula stuff with only good musicians playing, but no hooks, no real down-home vibe. Americana also, for me, hasn't got it. But maybe there is hope, and Ms Ferrell, from West Virginia, is a start.

Looks like a custom, but it's not a 42.

She has a very lovely way about her singing style. Refreshing really. I really enjoyed this song...and I listened to several others of hers.
And here is the kicker...I am not an enthusiast of Old time country style. Never followed any of the old time C&W people. Yet I find she brings real life and realism in her songs. She sounds great with just guitar and voice. That is hard to do all the way through a song. She kept my interest.
Thanks for introducing her.
With that being said, and meaning no disrespect, I did not find the tone of that guitar to be of a pleasant nature. I realize, she probably set up that guitar for that type of tone. Sounded like she purposely lowered the action to have lots of string buzz and no dynamics. Again, that is probably the effect she was going for, and it worked for the song. But tone wise? Well, if it is a Martin...it is certainly not showing what Martin's are capable of.

Definitely unique. She has vocal tones like a young Kitty Wells, but the vocal acrobatics of someone like Leon Redbone.

Looks like she has a busy tour schedule and mostly sold out shows, so I think she's getting the right kind of publicity.

Thanks for introducing her! Always time for good, new music!

One of my new favorites! I believe that’s her new Preston Thompson.

Sorry, can't help much with the guitar I got a bit distracted. Wow!!! Not another coalminer's daughter by any chance? That girl is phenomenal, new fan here. Thanks for sharing.

There's a whole new generation of incredible western musicians out there; Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Sienna, and tons more, that channel is awesome. I want to vomit through my ears when I hear country radio, but this western scene is so good.

Booked seats to see her at the Ryman December 30, a couple hours ago.

Sienna's western. West Virginia.

She's very good...but hardly unique...

She definitely is working that Colter Wall vibe BIG TIME, both with her song choices and voice style, and her guitar playing and raw, buzzy, and rather cruddy old thuddy worn out strings guitar tone.

Just like Colter...it works for this style of old timey style Country music.

It doesn’t help that it’s recorded ‘plugged’, and there’s a lot of mid in that flabby, plugged tone. And those strings sound stone-dead - way, way beyond what I’d regard as serviceable. It might be the tone she’s aiming for, but I’d prefer to hear the guitar completely ‘acoustic’ in order to make a judgment. And the buzzy-ness could be down to either an over-low set-up, bad fretting-hand technique, or a bit of both. Whatever, I didn’t like it in any way, and it doesn’t to justice to a fine instrument.

But she has a great voice and singing style!

The usual disclaimers apply......IMHO, YMMV etc.
