Default AT4040 Mic

Found one used locally, the guy is willing to accept $160. Wondering if this large condenser mic would suit my needs and be at the same level of the rest of my recording equipment.

I need a mic for recording voice, voice and guitar at the same time, and also to experiment stereo acoustic recording. I currently have a pair of KSM137's.

The rest of my gear is a RME Baby Face 1st gen...I've got room treatment down...have a decent pair of flat response open back headphones for mixing(near field monitors will be my next purchase).

Any quick replies?

That's a good price at $160. New price is $299 at Sweetwater.

Also, that is a good LDC mic, not the ultimate, but very good for the cost, especially at half price, assuming it's not been abused or full of germs.

If your guitar were recorded through a pair of KSM137s and the your voice through the AT4040, you'd be set in my opinion.

I think you will like the 4040 it does enjoy some decent reviews especially on your voice compared to the Shure's
Just be aware that if it works well on your voice the next thing GAS may inflict on you is the desire for a 4 channel interface, to allow you record the pair of 137's on your guitar and the 4040 on your voice all at the same time.

I agree. That AT4040 is decent. Maybe the seller would allow a quick trial before you buy?
