Tommy E in NYC last night
It was such an absolute pleasure to go to a live concert at Town Hall in NYC last night. And to see Tommy Emmanuel - and Andy McKee - well it just doesn't get better. Great show, appreciative audience. The brilliance, the ease, the grace, great vibes all around. A Happy Place :-).
This was the first time I've seen Tommy. I was blown away. I'm on target to play like he does by the time I'm 147 or 148. The man is a genius.

Having seen Andy McKee close up, in a tiny venue, I know he too is a wonderful player.
Obviously a terrific evening !

I've seen Tommy twice, he's incredible. Not just because he's one of the best players on the planet, but he's a great ENTERTAINER as well.

Tommy is not only a master guitarist, he is also a master at showmanship and one rarely comes across that combination.

Good for you! I'd love to see him live.
IMHO he is just about the best there is. I also think he's a very down to earth humble and gentle human being.

Congrats on a super evening! I'm going to see him again in April '22, postponed twice due to COVID. It will be my 4th concert of his......each one a singular event. Seeing him live is "otherworldly" and so different from a UTube track. No words.....and yes, what an entertainer!

I heard it was a great show! Do you have the setlist (or at least what he opened and ended with)? I couldn't find it online.

I would say Leo Kottke kind of falls into that territory... One the best things about seeing him live is his wit!

Quote:
He talked about how happy he was to see so many people picking up guitar and learning music over the past couple of years (a little covid silver lining) and how happy he is to be playing live concerts again. He also mentioned that the only thing he considers prior to a concert is what he'll play first; everything after that happens naturally. I can't remember another concert that I've enjoyed as much.
