So I spent a couple of hours getting to know the guitar and then hit record.

The signal chain is very simple, a pair of Geffel M300's straight into Logic. No messing about afterwards. Job done.
Thanks, Michael ... that's how I like to do it, as well, try to get the most natural sound possible in the room without any EQ or anything artificial after the fact. I use a pair of Neumann KM-184s.

Can I ask what miking technique you prefer? Spaced pair? XY? Over the shoulder? Or do you vary by guitar?

For natural recordings of this nature I use ORTF every time.
