Default Happy first day of Spring!

The equinox has rolled around one more time! The trees are pollinating like crazy here in East Texas leaving a fine coat of yellow dust on almost everything! Including my sinuses! The dogwoods and redbuds are blooming. The azaleas are starting to show color too.

The last couple of days have been around 49 for a low and 65 for a high. Sunshine and blue sky! It is good to be alive.

Going to try to get out and get some pictures. Post 'em if you got 'em.

Yep. Monday night my wife called me to the back deck and there was my favorite sound *croaking of frogs*. Beautiful....

I'm happy! It's been a long winter for us and today should be another beautiful day. The rains come back tomorrow along with colder weather. So I am going to enjoy today!

And yes, the frogs came back. We live way out in the country with woods and wetlands all around us. But there have been so many freezes that the frogs have been delayed. We were worried that they might not come back. But in the last few days they have come back with all kinds of volume. We can hear them singing all night long right through the walls and closed windows! It's such a great reminder that spring is hear!

It seems like just yesterday I was wearing layers whilst riding cross country bicycle and there was snow in the forecast in two days.

...oh wait - it was 29 while during my bike ride yesterday and there is snow in the forecast for Saturday.

Are you guys sure it’s spring?

Seriously though, it was nice today and I took the opportunity to do some landscaping. In celebration I appear to have blown out my back pulling out something that should not have been allowed to take root so well. It may be the first day of spring but my biorhythm feels like late September.

Hard to say how this is. The change of seasons (for a few thousands of years) is on the 21st.

Not only is it Happy First day of Spring, but, it's also "International Day of Happiness" as posted on another happy thread. That's about all the happiness I can take for one day!

I can't tell you how many times we went camping on Easter and ended up in the snow back in East Tennessee. Here on the coast we typically don't have our last snow until the end of March.

Actually, the change is an event, in the case of Spring, when the sun passes the equinox heading North. It can happen on the 20th, or the 21st, or on the 22nd, depending on the local time zone.

It only works out to be the 21st on average.

For example, this year, Spring was on the 20th in North America, but the 21st in New Zealand.

Still snow and ice on the ground here in the mornings, though the afternoons have committed to above freezing. But I hear birds singing, after a winter where there were only crows' caws.
