Hmm, if that's actually the case it's just two pieces more than a Martin 35-series back. Would that effectively make it all-solid? I would imagine that if it were a side-by-side five-piece back the 'solid' aspect would be emphasised. The photographs certainly look like bookmatched veneers. I suspect though that it's 'layered' in the same way as Taylor does the GS Mini.

I don't care much for Ed's music, however I have always admired his minimalist approach to his equipment and sound. He's kind of a no frills guy. I think these guitars will be exactly as they are advertised and will be good, solidly built, well crafted instruments. Nothing flashy, just a good tool for the job. I don't think this is diluting Lowden's brand at all as they aren't marketing them as a "cheap Lowden". They are being offered as a guitar that Ed approves of and uses, which is exactly what they are. Much for respect for these than I would have for something like a Keith Urban guitar which is just something he gets paid for having his name on but never plays.

Obviously George is pretty impressed with the way Ed does things to allow his name and reputation to be associated with this line.

I want one of these. I need a small travel guitar. I just couldn't get to liking a GS Mini or other similar guitars. This one looks great. I'm excited to try one out.

These are very interesting. Are they based on existing Lowden models? If so, what size are they? What Martin models would they compare to?

I thought I was gas proof, but these might have me percolating!

Based on the existing 'Wee Lowden' and S-series small body. I can't think of any Martin model these resemble.

Have you looked at the photos? I don;t think it means edge glued, I think they are creating their own version of laminated, much like Taylor and others say "layered"

I think even as a laminated guitar, this seems like a good price point. Particularly if it plays and feels great. I'd take a great playing and feeling laminate that sounds good vs a crummy playing and sounding all solid guitar all day.

I'm not sure if these are laminate or 5 individual pieces of solid wood for the back. Maybe they have found a cost effective way of piecing together smaller bits of wood.

they clearly aren't edge glued. the photos are beautiful bookmatched pieces, so it has to be layered veneers.
