Default Epiphone Frequensator , love, hate indifferent?

So im checking out a supposedly 1949 kent with large tone spectrum and frequensator tail. Which seems odd for the lowest line archie to have the top line tail. Anybody like the large pickup? How about the split tailpiece?

Never heard the pickup but it doesn't have a great reputation. Tail piece is just a tail piece, it's fine. If you take off all the strings on a bail, it falls off - that is about the only down side. Maybe the longer strings change tension feel, but I can't tell. I have one, installed from new, on a 1946 Zephyr, which was supposed to come with the regular tail piece.

Nothing special about the frequensator TP. My '39 Epi Triumph had one on it and it held the strings fine and didn't seem to have any other effect, good or bad.

Very little tonal difference IME, but they do have a nasty habit of splitting along the bends - many otherwise excellent to near-mint vintage Epis I've seen have undergone either brazing to repair the cracks, or outright replacement with increasingly hard-to-find originals in suitable condition...
