BTW, walnut necks are common in Gypsy guitars...

To be honest, it was Joel's idea/decision. When we were going over the different materials he said walnut neck. Just seemed to make sense to go with the back

I have laminated walnut necks on both my Stehrs, and I love them. I think the walnut will be great for yours with the palette you've got going on...

Default Joel Michaud Build Thread

No update yet. I last spoke to Joel about a week ago. Last I knew the finisher had a back log of work. I don't think he has started it yet. Hopefully soon!

Default Joel Michaud Build Thread

Funny that this morning I had an email from Joel, the finisher gave a preview of his work. I'm going to wait until I get some better pics from Joel before I post it. The one from the finisher was from a cell phone, plastic still attached, etc. But he knocked it out of the park! I know I was in the minority when it came to the burst, but it is so subtle and brings out the copper rosette. It is perfect. As soon as I get better pics from Joel, I'll be sure to share!

Default Joel Michaud Build Thread

Just a quick update, Joel contacted the finisher to find out what the status is. They did a little touch ups around the metal, it's was being buffed out today. Hoping it will ship back this week!
Bit frustrating, I'm not the most patient person, but I'm glad that they are making sure it's perfect.

So who is still with me? It's been awhile, but we're back!

Really glad that I went with the slight burst. I think it gives it an extra pop without taking away from the sinker.

Thanks Tom, it's back on the bench today for the bridge. Joel is hoping it will be shipped by the end of the month.
So close!

Brendan, this is turning out to be one of my favourite builds ever!! I can only imagine how different it would be to witness the guitar in person. The burst perfectly ties in the oxidised copper theme, as well as the wenge binding. Have you guys decided on the choice of bridge yet?
