That truly is an amazing looking back and side set. Cannot wait to see more, and, hopefully, hear more of it later.

I'm not generally a fan of "busy" rosettes (or any other feature) but that is really nice indeed. Not over the top, yet catches the eye.
It is going to be a stunning instrument. Have you got an ETA on it's finish? |

Looks wonderful Michael... do you know what materials are used to make those rosettes?

Ahem... I honestly don't know, various burls, whatever works in the design! Thanks Sage97, Jason has a finely developed eye for detail and it shows!

But will those pieces open up more as you play?

Here's a video of me playing Jason's guitar in Montreal. I was just "taking notes" so the quality is far from HD but it gets the point across.

The Rosette
So a couple of days ago I was sent a folder full of pics from Jason that answered all the rosette questions!
So, step one was to pick out a top That'll do very nicely indeed! So, next Jason used a Lie-Neilsen #7 plane and carefully followed a winter-grain line on both halves of the top making a seamless join. the two halves were then glued together with hide glue. Nice... Having joined the top plates Jason began work on the rosette, the first step was to choose some tasty maple burl and dye it with orange, yellow and midnight blue pigment. I really like this shades of Van Gogh, Klee, Klimt and Blake here in the colour palette... The burl was then cut into various random tiles which would form the stained glass mosaic Each tile is bordered with Ebony the design is starting to take shape, Jason wanted to create a real feeling of movement in the rosette and this was achieved not only with the way the colours flow into each other but also the intersecting ebony lines... When finished the rosette was bordered with ebony Wow... I have stared at this for a while...

I can safely say that rosette makes a great background picture on my laptop.

Thanks Danny, I'm going to let Jason get on with building it now for a while instead of taking pictures! Apparently he's closing the box soon...

I LOVE how he fleshed out that rosette. Very creative. He definitely thinks like an artist.. can't wait to see how this all comes together.
