Default Incoming NGD more Halcyon content (PHOTOS ADDED)

Well I just sent Ed the last of my deposit. Let the games begin.

Was gonna get another adi top like the AJ he just made for me...with bocote back and sides.
His supplier is out of bocote though so Ed found me a nice figured SA mahogany B&S set (it looks like bubinga..just beautiful).
He just got a stash of Lutz for tops and it's real nice so we're going with that.

So...this Halcyon is a OOO with a 1.75" nutwidth, 25" scale length, ebony board and bridge. Lutz top and figured hog B&S. Birch and rw binding, rosette and purfling I assume and the same ultra light and highly scallopped bracing. No upcharge for anything this time. The AJ cost a little extra for the adirondack top but this one is pure $999!!!!

I can't WAIT. I'm thinking I should probably hurry up and order a third. He's already had to hire some help, expanded his shop a little and ... rosewood is now an upcharge due to Indian RW costs escalating.

Mark my words everyone...I said it during the AJ build that the prices on Halcyons would go up. They ARE.
I also predicted that he will have to stop offering them altogether relatively soon. He says no but you just watch. Prices have already gone up, wait times are now longer...he WILL stop making them. If not completely, I guarantee that he can't go on making these things for under a grand much longer.

I'll put money on it. In fact I already have. Twice..and I might do it a third time ;-)

Wait time is triple what he quoted last time on the AJ!

Can not WAIT!!!!

Hi Blaren,

Wow, it looks like you are going to get another very nice guitar for a very reasonable amount of money. It's hard to imagine how Ed can do this and make money...

This OOO is turning out to be pretty special.
The Lutz spruce top is gonna be (I hope) SWEET. From the descriptions of the species it sounds like the cat's meow.

He's giving me the figured hog B&S ...AND figured hog binding at ZERO upcharge.
Not only that but he even made me an extra special rosette. This one:

Seriously you guys nine hundred and ninety nine frickin DOLLARS!!! Are you KIDDING? Is Eastman still in business? Is ANY company who is building guitars in China for a grand or more or less still in business? HOW is that possible. Doesnt everyone realize that you can get your DREAM guitar...HAND MADE from the ground up by one guy in Canada for UNDER a GRAND?? WAY under a grand in real money...we're talking $999 in Monopol..I mean CANADIAN money. And you even have 6 months or more to pay...interest free. REALLY? Y'all havent ordered one yet?
GOOD. Means my OOO will be ready sooner.

Actually...if Ed ever makes an appearance here at AGF and sees all the ranting and raving I've been doing about the AJ...well...I think he should just make me a FREE guitar for being his biggest fan.
Did you HEAR that ED? Everyone thinks you should give me a FREE guitar ;-)

WOOHOO...I can't WAIT for my OOO. Can't see it keeping up to the AJ but...if it does...I think I'm gonna be screwed. I WILL be ordering a third one. Hey...imagine how AWESOME he'll make that one...since I'll be a double repeat offender. Maybe I'll get a Tinker for the price of a Halcyon next time lol.
Truth is...sorry Ed if you're liletening...I honestly can't see a Tinker being better. Sure it will look way prettier with bling and deep gloss, and you can get them with super exotic tonewoods but...well if you show me a better guitar than my AJ...sure...I'll BUY IT! Can't see it though.

Well...I think it's time to install the new Fishman Matrix Infinity UST into the AJ. I have a set of JJB SBTs (the 20mm elements) that would probably sound better...but...the AJ is so big and responsive the 15mm elements would probably be better in this guitar. I fear the 20s would be too boomy. I had a Fishman infinity in my Stanford and it sounded REALLY good.
The JJB SBT will go into the OOO. Should be PERFECT in that guitar.
Wish me luck.
or at the very least a restraining order!!!!

Well, I sent him an email to get the ball rolling. How much is the deposit to get the build started? I'm assuming it's 50% as with the Tinker models?

Interesting, (if confusing) thread, but...I don't quite get why the braces on the top are being glued down with ( what I assume is ) the back of the guitar between the top and the radiused sanding dish.

Isn't this going to make it more difficult for the top to take on the desired radius?

I am obviously missing something, but exactly what I cannot determine ..
