Default PRS Case recommendations

Hi
I have a PRS Custom 24. I spend about 4k on it and it came with the PRS hard shell case. Super case but it is very heavy and unrealistic when you are traveling. Does anyone with a PRS recommend any other brand cases? I was looking at a hiscox but they are quite pricey. However, it is justifiable based on the quality of the instrument.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

SKB? Their cases are legit.

SKB would be equally as heavy would it not?

For me it comes down to a balance between weight and protection.
I've had a reunion blues RBCE1 for several years and guitars.
Its a rigid and extra-padded soft case. I keep my 594 there and hang it up.
It's protected from dust that way. I can also throw it from the roof if I wanted to.
Lots of great brands in cases. Calton, SKB, Gator, Mono, Access, etcetera..
Good luck and fun in the search!
PS> Your sig says CE24. Shouldn't it be CU24?

I know what you mean. My CE-22 case is so big and heavy. It seems sturdy but not anymore than my Gibson Les Paul cases, which are lighter.

I carry my PRS S2 McCarty Thinline in an SKB "1SKB-SCFS6 Universal Shaped Electric Guitar Soft Case." Which is the lining foam covered in cloth from their molded equivalent. It just went cross country in an airline overhead and took some abuse from other passengers with no problems. It is light, strong, and reasonably compact. I dislike their bulky molded TSA style latches on the current hardshell molded cases. I got an open box from ProAudioStar for $95 which was a very good price. There is a couple of inches to spare at the headstock end which should hopefully accomodate a 24 fret neck.

I also use a gig bag for my PRSi, a thickly padded one.
The only hard shell case I would lug around is that nice shaped thermoplastic Fender one. I read that the ones with the red Fender Label are actually hard to find because they are semi-collectible...

SKB makes terrific TSA lock cases. They have five latches on my LesPaul case and four latches on my rectangular Fender stuff. Guitars fit tight with plenty of storage space in neck and/or side pockets.

Are you a traveling musician or are you talking about going to the country for the weekend travel? There’s a big difference there. That would be a big part of your decision process I would think.

I have a Hiscox for my Furch and love it. Fantastic protection and surprisingly light.

Funny I just ordered a hiscox for this prs today! Thanks for the input everyone. I was able to get my hiscox for less than a high end gig bag.
