Congratulations on your new Emerald guitar.
You made a great choice getting an X7, they are such a joy to play. Have fun with it.

Congrats on the X7 ! Wonderful guitars, I had been using Elixirs too, but a couple weeks ago I put some Magnan lights on just because I had some extras. I am very happy with the results, tone was much improved in my opinion. I have not found a really bad sounding string for the X7 or X20. Some are better than the others, but the Emeralds don't appear to super picky like other guitars i have had.

Hi Mark,
Cleartone EQ lights (12-53). The EQ strings use a different alloy for each wound string. Try them out and let us know how you like them Barb |

Congratulations Barb! The X7 is a great guitar - play it in good health.
Curious how you see it comparing tonally to the Savoy? You're one of the few of us with both... |

Thanks everyone for the congrats.
Carmel Cedar, the Savoy and the X7 are soooo different that is is like comparing apples and oranges. In their own right each one is a great guitar. The Savoy, for me is the guitar that fits right like in "The Three Bears." I love the Savoy neck and its sound, playability and size. On the other hand I am really enjoying the X7 for it's ergonomics. The X7 is a great, intimate little guitar. I have a feeling that when I go to play out that the Savoy will come with me (at least for the season's first gig). Barb |

D.Hart, I'll have to think about your question when I play them and get back to you.

D.Hart,
I played both of the guitars before and I have to tell you that although I can play them I can't answer your question. My ears don't hear that information. Sorry I can't be of help. When I have a friend over with skilled hearing I will try to address this. Barb |

Hi All,
I had said in an earlier post that I put Cleartone EQ lights (12-53) on the X7 and liked them. I had them on for a week and while I did like the extra bass it gave the guitar I found that they didn't stay in tune well so today I replaced them with Elixir 80/20 medium/lights. I am enjoying the feel and sound of these very much and will probably stick with them for awhile. Barb |
