Mich Novice, Mark at Berkley Music is a great tech. He could probably replace the two barrels/screws or re-tap your barrels and get the problem fixed.
I usually reserve a spot and take the guitar in a couple days before he’s ready for it. That way you’re not without it for too long. Good luck, Rb |

Glad you found the problem!
There is another common source of Tele intonation issues. It comes from adjusting the neck pickup too close to the strings. The magnetic field of the pu can interfere with the intonation quite drastically. I happened to me with my first Tele when I was trying to fatten up the sound and sustain of the neck pickup. I adjusted it quite a bit closer to the strings and suddenly the intonation was terrible, all the chords sounded out of tune. A visit to the guitar shop solved the problem very quickly when the tech lowered the pickup a bit and explained the problem. Lesson learned! The reason that this affects only Telecasters lies in that the neck pickup lies right on a harmonic node. Strats on the other have their neck pickup in a slightly different spot so its not a problem. |
