Default What Guitar Is Nick Lucas Playing In This 1929 Version of "Tip-Toe Thru the Tulips"?

So, what kind of guitar is Nick Lucas playing in this version of Tip-Toe Thru' the Tulips with Me? It's from the 1929 color film Golddiggers of Broadway.

Of course, Tiny Tim resurrected the song in a 45rpm vinyl single recording originally released in April 1968; it went #17 US Billboard. The original Nick Lucas record went #1 US for ten consecutive weeks.

Observation: For many folks, probably it's difficult to conceptualize that more time has passed since April 1968 to 2023 than the time elapsed from 1929 to April 1968.

Tiny Tim got him a spot on Carson in 1969 and I was SHOCKED by how good his voice was in that spot. I felt that Carson was a bit dismissive of him because I think because he didn't know the history.

Is it a trick question?
It looks like a Gibson Nick Lucas.

Id seen the tv clip before but the older movie clip was interesting. Obviously the style is of a bygone era but his voice was excellent in both clips. And yes, Johnny showed himself to be an ignoramus.

I just ran across that Nick Lucas clip from Carson, as well. Very interesting, indeed. Good catch, there. Was just about to post it.

I'd also like to know who's buried in Grant's tomb.

The only thing I know about a Gibson is that you get an onion instead of an olive.

And he didn’t require a pickup/preamp/pedal board/dual source rig, etc. I believe the called it a “plectrum” and “sing louder but still good” back then. You know... talent.

Great clip.

I often think of my Seagull Folk as close enough for folk music to the Nick Lucas model guitar idea. 00 size body, deeper rim. The Godin laminated wild cherry back and side is sort of maple-ish. Looks like a similar neck dimensions too. But then I've never played a real vintage Nick Lucas model.
