Default A question, and every answer is correct.....

Listening to which specific acoustic guitar artist has given you the most pleasure over the years. This is NOT a who is the best question.

For me, it's Doc Watson. Who is it for you ?

Neil Youngs early stuff.
The beauty is in the simplicity and no one does it like Neil.

I'm way more about the songs than the picking so I'm going to say John Prine.

The guitar music most pleasurable to me is Hawai'ian Slack Key. My favorite artists are/were the late Dennis Kamakahi, Sonny Chillingsworth and Moses Kahumoku.

All above have at one time or another been favorites (except don't know D Dykes). But over the years and always? Joel Mabus.

Mostly I lean towards those whose playing is secondary to their songwriting. I've never been a fan of virtuosity for its own sake.

Michael Johnson. He became the pinnacle of folk guitar playing and singing. He is greatly missed.
