Default The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald (Gordon Lightfoot) cover posted

Hi, I posted my latest cover song video to my YouTube channel. There are now 71 songs posted on my 'Old Faithful Covers' channel.

The song is a multi-track cover on which I played and sang all of the instrumental and vocal parts. I tried to sound as close to the original recording as possible.

If you enjoy the video, please send a link to someone else who might like it.

Thanks. beatbyrd

Excellent in all respects, beatbyrd. This is a challenging song to maintain energy and interest…very long song. You did Gord proud!

Thank you both for your generous comments and kind words. As far as the song itself, I love what Gordon created and how he performed the song. It's one of his best.

Hey byrd! Was surprised to see you’ve covered this one. It’s different than other great poppy tunes you’ve posted. Didn’t know what to expect, though before listening, I thought you could pull it off. And you did! Real nice job. I doubt there’s a song you can’t nail.

I've held some of the 'non-poppier' tunes back, because I've noticed that the typical YouTube audience that I get pretty much ignores things that are less mainstream. I try to avoid songs that have just been played or covered to death over the years, unless I think I can offer something to that chestnut.

As far as being able to cover anything....... well, not so much. There are a ton of songs I'd like to cover that would require one or two specialized collaborators to accomplish. I am a really unskilled finger style player, as well as being low skilled on piano and electric guitar leads. There won't be any Journey, Zepp, Boston, Aerosmith, etc. covers. I could also use a skilled versatile female vocalist in order to do some duet covers. Ronny Spector, Nancy Sinatra, Dusty, Spanky..... are you out there?

Wow - you put a lot of work into that one.
It sounds wonderful.
Thanks for doing that.

Thanks to both of you that I did not include in my last response. I don't do 'zombie' thread revivals just serve my own interests and bring them 'current', but I do appreciate anyone that has taken the time to listen and comment on my videos. Thanks again.
