I only use thumb Picks...So I built this holder for my Custom Blue Chip Thumb Picks (of Various gauges). I use to make traditional Bow Racks for longbows and recurves to hang on the wall. I had a left over arrowhead..and turned it into my Thumb Pick holder.

I'm particularly interested in the wooden box thing, with either a sliding lid or a hinged lid, like this:

Ram, if you have a moment, could you please send me the dimensions, in inches, to your sea salt box. Also need height measurement. Thanks!

Here's a pic with a hinge, although I need something made of wood so that I can laser-engrave it.

Search for "Salt Box."

I searched around and found the company website, plus it appears Strings in beyond is selling them. What an original idea. I'm gonna order one and check it out.

Amazing the things people will think of. Gotta love it.

As others have noted, a number of places carry them, but nobody HAS any. It’s been that way since I first saw them. I was initially able to call the number on their website, a guy answered from what sounded like his kitchen or Mom’s basement, seemed to have a few laying around, and sold me one. It took forever and just when I’d given up on ever seeing it, it showed up. That was about a year ago. I tried again a couple months back, but never got through to anyone. Brilliant little holder - I fear how I’m gonna stay anywhere near as organized if I ever somehow lose it or if it should stop functioning somehow at some point… BTW, they claim it can hold up to 30 picks, but not if you want any kind of easy access to them. 10 is kind of my functional limit for being able to get them out and in easily. Also, if you like thick picks, it can be hard getting them in if you don’t have a speed bevel. Above about 1.2-1.3mm I have trouble with unbeveled picks and I prefer em without a bevel…

If you find one, let me know. Or maybe you could have something like it made and sell it under the Charmed Life brand? I’d definitely buy one…

I am constantly amazed at this forum - all the obscure, guitar related stuff that people are interested in…and here I am reading all these posts to the end of the thread, and thinking…yeah, I think I need one of those.

When I got my first Blue Chip pick I was concerned about how to keep it safe at home and when playing out.

I resolved that the best thing to store it in was another valuable thing.

I had seen these "Princess Mary" boxes in antique shops and in people's homes, so looked on ebay and found a number at differing prices depending on condition and original contents.

The first one proved perfect for my needs keeping picks , capo and a clip-on tuner all in one place, and stored in the accessory box of my guitar cases.

In 2014 - the anniversary of the start of WW1, a British newspaper issued replicas which whilst nothing as profound still did the job.

Prices of the originals peaked at around 2014 for obvious reasons.

I now have one for every flat-top guitar.

Now I seriously want a Pick Stick. If anyone finds a solid source, please post up.

Default The Tree

I made this acoustic guitar themed box out of original pieces of The Tree (Smithsonian article HERE )

The inside is kerfed and braced with spruce, the top is cedar (my favorite tonewood), the purfling is abalone and the binding is rosewood.

Pragmatic rather than beautifull. A soft padded purse made locally and bought from a local hobby shop for £4. Front zip pocket for picks, main pocket for tuner, spare capo, thumb and finger picks, truss rod wrench, rosin block (for pick grip) etc.

Soft enough to chuck in a gig bag in the space under the neck without worrying. Easy to spot at gigs and sessions.
