I love my Eastman T64/v. It's Eastman's take on a 330/Casino style; Lollar P90s, varnish finish, Bigsby. There's something about the 330 (as opposed to the semi-hollow 335) that feels incredibly alive, and Eastman really nailed this one. Definitely a go-to electric option for me.

For me it all depends.

I think that a nice LP with some Suhr Thornbuckers in it is hard to beat on the Humbucker side of things.

On the Telecaster side, the recent T-Icon from Anderson puts any other Tele I've heard to shame. (Yes even Custom Shop)

For a strat the best sounding one I've ever played and heard was a Grosh Nos Retro. Very 60's in tone and made the Fender's sound very compressed and soulless. Although, the New PRS Silver Sky really peaks my interest too!

Works fantastically too and blown many a mind .

The GR33 has certain advantages over the GR55 and coupled with my T.C.Helicon Voice Live 3 X it's right on
in regards to keeping up with the state of art in electronic sound for guitars and vocals .

Note there are no 5 pin midi jacks on GR55 so you can't trigger a GR55's synths with a keyboard like I can with my GR33 .

Guitars like Godin's SA* guitars really have very little tracking issues . After market GK slapped on work relatively
well even if you occasionally read about a few people having false notes ( tracking ) triggering more often .

The COSM guitar voices in the GR55 are nice - I've no problem on the GR33 not having the COSM voicings but
as I mentioned my VL3X MFX unit gives me more than enough in guitar tones/voices along with those split
coils on the LGXSA .

I agree that you can sound like so many great guitars with these units , most guitarists however never get close to using half
of them .

I love what I've been able to use since I got it in 1994/5 and I've barely scratched surface of the available voices too ,
because of this fact a GR55 is not missed at all .

*SA = Synth Access
You're comparing apples with oranges. Roland know what they're doing and have thought it all through (...this time!). The GR-33 is just a guitar synth...the GR-55 is THE guitar solution housed in a single virtual environment.

He'll explain it...

let's go deeper...

..and as we're on the subject, then my 'other' vote for favorite synth controller must go to the Carvin SH-575 with...or without the Bigsby.

A tele first.
A hollow body second.

I like Tele's, particularly Lake Placid Blue with a white guard and rosewood fretboard.

Thank you for your responses. Though several of you listed multiple guitars, the final count has Telecasters the far and away favorite, almost triple any other guitar choice, followed by a tie between Stratocasters and Gibson Les Pauls.

Sounds about right to me. Though I just saw McGuinn a week or so ago, and that Rickenbacker sure sounded cool.

Wow, I'm not into electric guitar, but this thing is GORGEOUS!

If I’m surprised about one thing, it’s that, on this forum, there weren’t more who listed hollowbodies/semi-hollowbodies. For tone, string spacing, etc that make them somewhat closer to acoustics in feel.

I thought I made it clear that with the T.C. Helicon Voice Live 3 X I get what the GR33 hasn't got in cosm guitar voicings and other guitar FX the GR55 has .

I agree that Roland got it right with the GR55 with the added electric guitar FX that was not in the GR33 - that was a big miscalculation to be sure .

I was thinking seriously on getting a GR55 till the T.C. Helicon Voice Live 3 X came out and then to myself it was a no brainer . Nice as the GR55 is , and I like
it , I like the GR33 over it with the added strength of the T.C.Helicon Voice Live 3 X . The GR55 has no vocal FX at all . The system I have now suits my needs perfectly .
Also the lack of 5 pin midi in/out and a few of my favorite synth voices being eliminated steered me away from getting a GR55 .

I choose the Godin LGXSA over that cool Carvin because I was offered a new Roland GR33 with the new LGXSA with a hard shell case for $1700.00 tax included ,
when I got it I had also gotten a Digitech GNX4 8 track looper MFX + drum machine . I was a great piece of gear - so great it was stolen .

To replace the function of my past set up I got a T.C. Helicon Voice Live 3 X and for a drum machine a BeatBuddy since the T.C.H VL3X hasn't a drum machine .

It's a sweet solo set up with my GR33 + VL3X + BeatBuddy = bad boy set up lean & mean it is .

Of late I've been playing more electric than acoustic. Two archtop hollow bodies, an es339 semi-hollow, a couple teslecaster style, and a strat. But one of the telecasters and the strat have Warmoth necks with 1 3/4 inch nuts. I love strats and telecasters, but not the narrow necks that Fender generally supplies with them.

I like strats. I've mostly played strats. I like the sound people get from SG's and LP's but can't stand to play them. But I'm not at all shocked that Tele's would be a hot item on an acoustic guitar forum.

Fender Tele. Not much of an electric player, but that's my fave. I hear the G&L clones are pretty good too.
