I checked rates for Fedex to ship a 35 pound 1x12 cab from WV to TX insured for $600, and the cost was $110. I checked the Pirateship rates, and the cost was $117. And that doesn't include the PayPal fee. Seems everybody is charging outrageous prices these days.

I know that. I just checked each individual shippers cost for shipping the cab according to dimensions and weight, and Pirateship's cost was higher than the Fedex cost.

Shipped a guitar via UPS Ground yesterday from CO to VA for $68. I used Shippo to purchase and print the label. Pleasant pricing surprises are rare these days
Shipping 3 guitars this way saves enough to pay for my Heritage policy.

I have an Etsy shop where I do custom woodworking and typically use the built-in Etsy shipping labels (also discounted from UPS and USPS).
On several occasions I've had to buy the label outside of Etsy and have always used Pirate Ship. Their pricing is discounted about 30% to 40% just like using Etsy. They get this discount because of the volume they deal with and I'll add the service has been fantastic from Pirate Ship.

Have you compared it to what you'd pay if you walked into the FedX office with your guitar, boxed-up to ship? or to a discount guitar shipper? |
