If I could hold on to guitar that size that would be the one. I’m sure they don’t sound the same but I can’t get enough of my GP 35 .
Beautiful guitar, enjoy.

The D-35 is a classic, especially now with forward bracing. I agree Martin needs to lose the plastic cases. (You could pick up a nice geib style like the D-18 gets without too much outlay.). And I agree, as well, the 35 just buries the 814 in terms of depth of tone. I too prefer wood bindings, but, believe it or not, a huge number of Martin fans prefer the traditional plastic. At least they’re using cream on the new ones rather than the old blinding white pre-2018. These new D-35 standards are just killer. Have fun!

Great choice! Congratulations. It's a beauty! I agree about the Taylor tone; they're too sterile and shimmery to my ears acoustically and I think you made the right move. Martin dreads are fantastic.

That sure looks nice! I seemed to prefer the D-35s over the D-28s when I came across them as well. Congrats!

Congrats on that new D-35! It looks wonderful and I feel pretty certain it sounds great!

You have to be feeling pretty good about now!

Congratulations on a nice looking and what I am sure is a great sounding guitar.

I bought my D35 new 43 year ago, added an OM35 in 2007 and a custom 000 12 Fret with 35 style appointments and 3 piece mahogany back and sides.

Comments
White Plastic binding Suits me fine and never once thought about it. Very durable and protects the body and neck overtime, plus lacquer overspray has yellowed nicely over 43 years. OM 35 white binding is doing the same.

Original blue case on D35, lightweight plastic case on OM35, Geib case for custom, admittedly looks the nicest, but I like all three.

Enjoy this guitar.

Outstanding... congratulations. That's my favorite Martin dread. Everything you wrote echoed my feelings. To me, it's much lovelier and more lyrical than the 28s. I hope you enjoy it... that's really pretty.

Congrats! Every Taylor should be traded towards a Martin in my book. I traded my 818 toward a D41 and it was the best decision I’ve ever made!

It's funny. I think they sound great! But much like the ugly Gibson pick guards and mustache bridge, the 3 peice backs just rub me the wrong way lol

Also might consider a Hiscox for a case upgrade.
