1964 Gibson J-45
Hi,
I'm looking for a player grade 1964 J-45. Must be 11/16 or wider nut. I think '64 was the cut-off before the switch to 9/16. Please message me if you have one you may be willing to part with. Thanks, Neil

Birth year. The 11/16 nut is at least one benefit of not being born a little later from 65-69 or so.

I hope you find the right one. I recently got a '63 j45 and man it's a fun guitar! You may also want to consider the j50 as it's the same guitar in natural, I'm sure you already know that though.

Yes, I absolutely should have noted that J-50 fits as well. In fact, my preference would be a '64 J-45 that is so faded that only a hint of the cherry remains. I once had a great sounding '65 that was just like that, but I just couldn't adapt to the 9/16 nut. That top was so faded that you might have thought it was a J-50.

Yeah, I found a '67 j50 in guitar center that sparked my interest in these guitars and the nut was just a little too narrow. The guitar had issues but was so good sounding in a fundamental way, really easy to sing over. My '63 has the faded burst but you can definitely still see the red. It has the 1 11/16's nut and is a tad slim behind the nut but plays comfortably up the fretboard. Overall I like the neck shape. I'm hoping to find a 50s SJ, country western, j45 or j50 to go with it some day.
