Default Advice Needed on Trade + Cash Avalon Gold A200CE & Blueridge Parlor Br 361

Wanted to get some opinions on a potential trade. The seller has an Avalon Gold A200CE for sale, made in Ireland during the time that the Lowden workers made them. It is in excellent condition and I have played it and like it. His initial asking price was $1,200. He will consider a Blueridge Parlor BR-361 that I have + $500 as a trade. Is this a fair trade?

Below is a description of the guitar:

Here's a killer deal on a Lowden-era Avalon Gold A/E guitar...
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
...Will consider a sensible offer.

Spruce top
Rosewood back & sides
Wood bindings
Acoustic - Electric Cutaway, Fishman
Size like Lowden F or Taylor _14: large bout is 16" across, 4-3/4" deep
1-3/4" nut width, 25-1/2" scale
2-piece neck (the long way, minus the decorative strips) - super stable
Gold Grover's with ebony buttons
"Lowden"-embossed Hiscox Liteflite case.
Touch-sensitive plus one of the loudest I've come across - cuts through with power and definition.
Made in Newtownards, Ireland during the time when Lowden & Avalon shared the same shop and people.

Don't know what your blue ridge is worth but an Irish made Avalon in good condition is easily worth $1200+

That deal is a no-brainer to me... but then again I don't have a 'parlor' room where I live.
I see no reason why the Avalon won't be an excellent upgrade.... even the hard case is high quality.

Do it. That Avalon is far better than the Blueridge. This is a good deal.

Yeah, I am not super familiar with either one, but just from the little bit I do know... I would jump on that one with a quickness.

Thank you all for the replies. The Avalon is great guitar. The issue I am having is that I have a Taylor 514ce FM limited which is similar to the Avalon...woods are different one is Mahogany and the Avalon is rosewood and the sound is different. If I get rid of the Blueridge I won't have a parlor...but I am still leaning towards doing the trade ... here is how the guitars sound:

Me ab'ing the Avalon against my Taylor 514ce FM Limited:

ME playing the Br-361:

I'd be all over that deal. He's allowing $700.00 on the Blueridge...do they even cost that much new? The $1200.00 for an Irish-made Avalon is a really good deal by itself. If I had one like that to sell, I'd ask a lot more than that.

I'll check back tomorrow to find out if you did the right thing, or let it get away...

I have a 2003 Avalon A200 - great guitar, beautifully made and sounds very good (as this one does) In your video the two sound very different so no real crossover in tone to my ears.

The Taylor and the Avalon should be a decent bit different in sound.

He’s giving you a huge trade in value for that Blueridge. And the difference in build quality and sound (to my hands and ears) is significant.

Just out of curiosity what did your 2003 Avalon cost and is it a Gold series made in Ireland?

Judging from everyone's response I should write him a check do the trade and buy him dinner before he changes his mind!

It’s an Irish gold series in immaculate condition and I paid £950 a few months back

Yes, but don’t offer dinner until you have the Avalon safely locked in your car. He might get suspicious.
