Default And so I became a Martin man

Hello all,

It's time to end my lurking ways, so I will introduce my new baby: a Martin GPC-15ME. For a number of years my only acoustic has been a Walden dreadnought (which is a fantastic instrument for the price I paid for it). I have a nice electric guitar, but I have always been drawn more to making music unplugged. The time had finally come where I was ready and able to purchase a nice acoustic guitar.

I checked out a number of places to see what was available in my locale (Kansas City area). I went to Guitar Center, the only local place around that is a Gibson dealer; and that GC visit could take an entire thread on its own - I'll just say I'm happy there are other guitar stores around to choose from. Although there was a J-15 that I found mighty tempting....

Eventually my trek ended up at Mass Street Music in Lawrence, KS. I had the chance to play Collings, Huss & Dalton, many flavors of Martin, some nice Taylors... and this is the beauty that I took home:

Most importantly, it was the one that sounded best to me. It may not be as exotic as the Huss & Dalton with koa back and sides or the custom Taylor with the sinker redwood top, but I love the look of the dark woods with the nickel tuners. And it plays so easily! Perhaps the most amazing thing to me is that it feels like there is a margin for error where it still sounds great even if I'm not playing at my most precise.

Many thanks to the friendly crew at Mass Street Music for helping my journey reach its destination. My GAS is cured for the time being (i.e. I promised the wife this would be the last instrument for a long while), but for me and my Martin this is just the start of a beautiful friendship.

Great score. Try them out and get the one that inspires.

Someday I hope to get a 15 or 17 series. They sound so fine.

Well done and you did it the right way buy playing a bunch of different guitars and buying what sounded best to you. I love my Martin 000-15M, just something organic about the look and sound of a Martin mahogany guitar. Enjoy it and congratulations
