Default The great Judy Henske

A discussion up there in General about Richie Havens

https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=532809

lead me to check him out on youtube, where I found his excellent version of "High Flying Bird", written by Billy Edd Wheeler

which reminded me of Judy Henske, who was the first to record it. What a great singer!

Oh yeah, a long time favorite of mine. Her 1964 record of "High Flying Bird" was a template for a type of folk-rock that followed.

Here's another big-voiced (though lip-synched) performance from a bizarre movie "Hootenanny Hoot" that hints at her sense of humor as well. Warning not for those AGP members who worry about sweet and sunblock stains on their instruments.

Sense of humor? OK, maybe this requires a memory for antique Sixties TV pill commercials and even older Child Ballads, but....
