Thank you very much. You are so right, with all the rosette work etc. it is easy to forget it all started with the great BRW back and side set....pretty nice stuff to overlook!

Heck Tom, possibly cousins but I think it possibly makes us brothers from another mother lol. Whatever the case, I'm excited for what Steve is putting together for you. Looks like the beginnings of a masterpiece!

Here are a few pics of Steve bending the sides...I know he was pleased there were no issues during this process....

Starting to become a guitar!!!

I have the same electric bending iron you are using, and mine gets covered with resin and guck too. But I recently discovered, you can clean it up very easily, using some Easy-off Oven Cleaner. Just spray it on, leave it overnight, and wipe off the crud in the morning- and you're down to bare metal again! Just thought I'd pitch in two cents worth of unsolicited blah-blah!

Your solution is probably better than most as it seems to me that WD 40 is the answer for most everything on the forum from arthritic fingers to fret board woes.....

That's one word for it. "Grateful" is another. When you hold expensive wood that has been hoarded for years, awaiting just the right project, and then start to coerce it into a double S at over 300 degrees, it may not look exciting, but believe me it is. Who needs extreme sports to get an adrenaline rush? Go bend some fragile, irreplaceable wood some time. And when done, give hearty thanks if all went well.
