Lightweight compact p.a. Tower type
I bought a JBL eon one, almost three years ago and love it. I have the rolling case so level ground is no obstacle. Getting on in years, I must say, I dont enjoy carrying it up stairs. Been thinking of getting something lighter, not too expensive ( under $1000) without sacrificing much power or sound quality. Any suggestions? I probably won't use it much, maybe two or three times a month (for the places with stairs).

The JBL Eon One (I had one) is a little heavier than the new Eon One Pro (I have one.) So, you might want to go to Guitar Center and lift both up and see if it is enough difference to tip the scales. Otherwise, you might want to consider the Bose S1 Pro (I also have one). It's a small two channel system that gets surprisingly loud for a 14 lb package. You can even get a backpack to carry it up the stairs.

Or the Bose L1 Compact - 27 lbs. It's a little louder and has more bass - both sound very very good.

I'd second that.
