Default Martin M-38 Custom Flamed Koa *Sold*

The M size was new to me when I first came across this. I've tried many times to play a dread since the sound is so great, but I could never get comfortable with one. I always felt like I was hugging a fridge. This M (or 0000) size has a near-Dreadnought sound. The pinched waist thinner body gives this model a lot more of an immediate response (or attack) when using fingerstyle as compared to a traditional dread. The body depth for this custom is similar to an 000/OM, which for me makes this way more comfortable to play.

Pretty clean, very little play wear. A few light surface scratches on the side where it lies on the lap. Can only truly catch it in the light hence the odd place pic to highlight it. Otherwise no impressions, indents, cracks etc. Always stored in case, in humidified, smoke-free, pet-free environment.

Plays incredibly well, fast neck, deep rich tone

Sold to your door CONUS

Feel free to message me with any questions.

Had an M-36 in the house for a time, and wow, these Martin M guitars are simply fantastic. If I had the cash flow, I’d add it to my Martin herd. GLWTS!

Thanks, still available folks. One of the best guitars I’ve played.

FAQ: “Why are you selling?”

A: “I’m selling this (insert superlative guitar here) because I have an insatiable compulsive urge to try every acoustic guitar on the planet while still being able to pay rent and feed and cloth my children. Every guitar I own I have owned for a brief time.

When I first started buying and selling often, looking for acoustics, I thought I’d eventually settle on the one (or 3) and be happy. Years later I realize trying new guitars on a consistent basis is what makes me happy and I have given up thinking that I’ll settle on a certain bunch and reach contentment.

The longest held guitar at any given time is maybe 12 months. I regret many I sell. It’s an addiction for sure, but so far, one I’ve been able to sustain without spending all my household income.”

Are you sure that top is Sitka? The wide grain sure looks like Adi. At any rate, this is a delicious offering at a very reasonable price! Someone will be very fortunate! Wish I had the shekels! And your reason for selling sadly resonates with many of us!

It is a Sitka, but it is an exquisite piece.

Agreed! Unfortunately, on the other end, Martin + Koa also = G.A.S.

Friday Bump. Beautiful and resonant. M model (Stefan Grossman’s model of choice) is a work of art.
