That video is great. The band, the song, the individual and group playing/singing are so well balanced and put together. Every element of the music serving its purpose supporting and embellishing the whole, and nothing is too much.
A class act indeed.

Being a UK person, I just discovered Molly recently and really love her. I did prefer her first album though. I fear in Crooked Tree she's in danger of morphing into Alison Krauss.

She is such an impressive young woman. Its been fun to watch her progression as a performer. I remeber a similar feeling when seeing a young Taylor Swift...thinking she's going to be BIG. Hope she wins Best New Artist.
She's going to play the New Orleans Jazz Festival this spring. I'll be there rooting her on...

A.K. is from my town and I've been a fan since I saw her play when she was 16 years old. I was playing in a band and we played just before her band at a 4th of July celebration in a small town just outside Champaign, Illinois. I remember saying "That girl's got some serious talent!". I see much the same pure unadulterated talent and just plain niceness in Molly Tuttle. |

I don't know...albums have a way of being different and stretching boundaries. And while I like where Molly is heading I seriously doubt she'll forget what brought her to the dance. She's got bluegrass running thru her veins...

In November we lucked out and discovered a planned photography and hiking trip to Moab coincided with the annual Moab Folk Festival which Molly was headlining. It was my first chance to hear Molly in person and she did not disappoint. My cell phone gave me this video of one of her encores. Clawhammer on a Preston Thompson and she shakes her guitar at the very end to get every last bit of awesome PTK joy out of it...I was in heaven...

Molly is so down to earth. Whenever she is in the area, I check the schedule.

Maybe we're all just a bit crooked
. . . and I mean that in the best possible sense. This is a great song and a great lesson in how we're surrounded by strong, healthy differences. Thanks for the post. It made my morning.
I've long thought that I was a bit off as I went through life. I get older, but I can't shake that feeling. I have at least one grandchild that has secrets (his parents know them and love him for them) but, as it is, they go through their lives finding people that will help them protect him as he grows and shines. My wife, a smart, capable, athletic professional woman with a sense of humor and good looks to beat the band might be seen as conventional (not crooked) by some. But I have the distinct privilege of knowing her secret. She's so kind to everyone that it's downright atypical (i.e., "crooked"). At this point in our lives, we have a couple mutual friends with varying degrees of dementia and a sick yet loveable dog. I refer to all three of them as her "patients." She does things for each of them that you can't pay people to do. I hope I spend the rest of my life in the company of crooked trees. They'll save us all.
