This is an incredible set (dare I say "Schweeeeet!"?), and is my preference in Brazilian -- beautiful, straight grain.

Wish I could join you all in this! Two tuition bills and other expenses will have me sidelined for a while unless I sell half a dozen electrics. My wish list would be guitars from Two Hands, Mark Hatcher and John Kinnaird, and building a guitar with Steve and Ryan.
Love seeing the different woods everyone has in the works. Enjoying the thread!

What custom guitar commissions are you expecting delivery on in 2023?
Well, my old college roommate and very good friend is having Steve Kinnaird and Ryan build him a 00 Koa back and sides with spruce top…recently started!!

No guitar orders in the works for me as I embrace my “in retirement” budget but happy to enjoy vicariously here. Some thrilling sounding guitar builds listed so far. I look forward to tagging along for the ride.

Oooh! I love Bois de Rose and that is a beautiful set. I am fortunate to have a red spruce and Bois de Rose Prairie Grass by Sparky Kramer that is quite stunning. Euro should be a great pairing with it. Best, Jayne |

These posts are a bit strange as kind of a bit show off, 'look at how lucky I am/ how much money I will spend his year.' etc.. but I appreciate the enthusiasm that folks have for a new commissions. It is very exciting and that it's a great opportunity to highlight luthiers work, especially given that the vast majority are often struggling to make a decent and fair living considering their talent and exceptional level of skill (they should have been violin or cello makers LOL ;-) )
So for me, 2023 (2024) will be an exciting year... Mike Vanden Archtop guitar shaped octave mandolin which has its own thread due Feb/march David Whiteman classical in BRW/German spruce due April/May/when he gets bored of the french polishing (he has been an great friend of mine since about 2006 when he helped me build my first steel string) Taran Tirga Beag BRW/sinker redwood starting in Sept/Oct so most likely completed in early 2024 (Rory has been a friend since 2010 when I moved back to Scotland and I am already lucky enough to own a Mad Rose/Adi Oreval from 2021/2022 So a rather exciting year and given my age/talent, last few as I have enough .. more than my playing ability justifies especially. I also have been waiting a while for a 1995 Rickenbacker 370 that needed a neck re-set /new neck and refinish to come back from a Rickenbacker specialist so it will be like a NGD Last edited by FrankCousins; 12-22-2022 at 02:01 PM. |

I don’t view anyone on this thread - having met a number of the participants in person - as showing off about how much money they have. It’s all about the enthusiasm for the guitars and the builders. I agree with you that it’s great that members of this community can help support the talented artists/builders that make these guitars.
The comments about showiness come up now and again, but I’m flabbergasted by them. You’ve come to a forum of enthusiasts and then come to the spot of the forum dedicated to custom builds - so there shouldn’t be much surprise that there are people talking enthusiastically about their upcoming builds. What else would you expect?
