Default iPad Mic?

I want to set up a simple, ready to record station using GarageBand on my iPad Air. Nothing fancy, complicated, or high $$. Are there any decent microphones I can plug into my iPad for this?
Or if somebody has a different recording suggestion, I'm all ears. (Pun intended &#128556
Thanks for any advice.

Apogee Mic is a popular option.
