Never tried one but have a J45 Studio and am a big fan of that guitar. It have a slightly brighter sound than the standard J45 but it is an absolute joy to play with a sweet sound that is more mid focused.

Thanks Bill,

Those dimensions put it at a sweet spot for me; it must have power and project well (punchy) too. With the walnut back it must be a completely different animal than the Standard. Thanks again.

It's like any other all-solid wood guitar: some sound better than others, so you're best off playing some until you find one that speaks to you. But, yes, I've played several and think they're good guitars. Black walnut is a superb tonewood when used for guitar backs and sides. I own several instruments made from it.

Hope this helps.

Agreed just like the standard these 45 studios vary from one to the next. Some with more base and some with more treble and some like mine a nice blend of base and mids. Sweet guitar for the money

Oops - I was speaking to the J45 studio....not sure if Wade meant the G45. He knows way more than me. So if he says the G45 is good I would trust him

Short answer:
G-45 series are a great value, unique tone, but ship with a junk pickup. I'd rather they cut $50 off the price and shipped these without electronics

Longer answer:
Tried the Standard a few weeks ago. As I suspected doesnt sound much like a J-45. I imagine the combination of Walnut b&s, non-scalloped bracing and a partial satin finish contributed to it's unique tone.

That said, I liked it for it's differences. I think non-scalloped bracing helps give the round shoulder jumbo body more punch.

Of the YouTube demo videos the Acoustic Letter (Music Villa) video really showcases what to expect with tone, at least as best a video can

My experience exactly. Love my J45 Studio! Specs are pretty similar to the G45 with the exception that the J45 has scalloped braces and the G45 are non scalloped.

Question related to G45 Standard and Studios. My understanding is the Studio models (i.e. J45 Studio) have less body depth than the J45 Standard. Is this the case with the G45s?
