Default Some new gear chasing the Jerry Garcia tone

Here’s a short video my son did to demonstrate the new used gear that we picked up recently. It’s crazy what these kids will get you to do these days. In our house it’s hard for me to say no to spending on musical instruments and equipment. All Grateful Dead cover snippets of course.

That was very cool. I am the same way with my son, except he's more of a Hendrix nut than Dead Head, but that's okay, too.

Great sound. He doesn't need to chase the GD sound, his is fine.

Nice gear. I thought we were hearing the Princeton Reverb, but I just that was there mostly for decoration. But I mostly agree with the others - your son has the feel and most of the tone in his fingers and in his soul. 99% of his sound is him - the gear may give him another 1%, but I'm not even sure about that.

I grew up in Palo Alto where Bobby and Jerry worked at the only music store in town.. Been a fan since before the Warlocks days. He's got a good start to the sound .

An Alembic blaster will get you a lot closer to "Gator" which was Jerry's Strat.
They are very reasonable, and were recently added to the PRS Silver Sky ( strat clone) as a John Mayer " Dead Spec" model.

When talent and budget come together, invest in an Alembic .. It took me 50 years of chasing that tone (the last 41 as a Luthier ).. I finally splurged ...Bang! perfection

We have one! His custom Jerry warmoth strat has the blaster. Interesting note: Lowell George used one too and some think from seeing jerry's
