“Affordable” and “high end” don’t go together. “Affordable” and “high quality” do.

There’s going to be some discernible difference in products in different price points/categories, otherwise no one will buy the upper level models. Price and justification for offshore manufacturing is also going to depend on conditions, both economically and politically (read tariffs) in both countries.

And here is the kicker, if Dana has a kick-out clause on his employment with the company and he retires sooner rather than later, well, it’s anyone’s bet what will happen.

Making guitars is a business. It requires that you treat it like a business, unless of course you have other means to support yourself. As for affordable 12 fret 00s, the models in any brand make up a very small segment of the guitar market. Prices on these depend on the scarcity and the demand for them. There’s a reason there are no lower end Martin models in this size/configuaration. There’s very little demand. And to my knowledge Bourgeois has never made a 12 fret 00. You might be better off looking for an Eastman e10-00.

That’s certainly well under $2k

If you're looking for 12-fret 00, check out Breedlove. Their entire line of Concertina bodies are 12-fret and very close to 00 dimensions. Prices range from about $300 to $3500 US (or more if you want a custom).

Otto D'Ambrosio designed the (discontinued) El Rey Series and currently runs their Custom Shop, Claudio Pagelli had his own also discontinued) signature series of archtop guitars - here's an example of each:

Since when are the El Rey and Pagelli guitars discontinued? They are on the Eastman website with NO mention of no longer being made

Same thing might happened to Bourgeous guitar if there isn't enough interest. Stop freaking out--Bourgeous will still be made in the US either way.
Avian went out of business a few years ago. They are now BACK in business, with the mostly the same lineup of guitars, but with different options, etc...

Mine’s a short scale and has a square headstock. The snake head is the ONLY feature of Dana’s guitars that I don’t like. It looks too much like an electric guitar headstock, in my lowly opinion.

That's nice. Do you know if that was custom ordered with that headstock? I thought the snakehead was the standard option on the SS.

Mine is a custom model with Honduran fiddleback mahogany sides and back, Adirondack top and the square headstock.

Sounds pretty disheartening to me.
