Default Ken duBourg 7 string custom steel string acoustic guitar — handbuilt 1979

Offering a Ken duBourg seven string acoustic steel string flat top guitar — spruce top and mahogany back and sides, spec’ed with a cutaway and Fishman pickup installed. OHSC included. Custom built and delivered ca. 1979. This is your muzzle flash. $SOLD and open to conversations otherwise.

Fantastic condition for a 35+ year guitar, rates GC overall due to some crack repairs. Got a neck reset and full inspection from Bill Tippin in 2008 via a dreamguitars.com facilitated work order, and recent GTG from Mike Dove in Maryland.

Lots to catch up on — provenance, spec sheet, scenesetter, shipping details (somewhere in there) and all that here: http://bit.ly/1fRNJJG. Reads shambolic — strap in. Teaser pics below and multiple shots available here: http://bit.ly/1if2MyP. Someone’s unknown known, or known unknown, or possibly unknown unknown — and capable of serious magic.

Very, very interesting. If I didn't have a build in progress we'd be talking.

Holy cow! A duBourg!!! I've been doing searches since I first heard the story of Michael Hedges' lost duBourg that he was able to get back eventually. Figures this would pop up when i'm in the process of selling guitars to get some extra money for the family. Good luck with the sale! Someone is going to be stoked to be able to get there hands on one of these. Truly rare.

Just got to say that your notes describing this guitar and its background (in the first link) rank among the finest I've ever read. Great style and substance, and a real trip.

The backstory on this guitar is a great read. If the OP is not a professional writer he should be.

—to a fan of the '70s luthiery bleeding edge, and up to 7string endgames otherwise. Thanks!

Please take a look at — or revisit — the amazing work Ken's currently up to via dubourgguitars.com and here. Keep the story going.

I also just got a new home due to a baby on the way. The very reasonable price tag on this guitar and several others on my personal GAS list make me wanna cry right now.
