Default Blue Scott Shop Towels for guitar cleaning?

Hi guys,

are the blue Scott Shop Towels appropriate for guitar cleaning tasks? I usually use old laundered cotton t-shirts but I have a limited supply.

People who use paper products to clean their motorcycle
windshields have swirly-wirly marks on them. People who
use cotton microfiber cloths don't...

I never use microfiber cloths.

The reason is that they are design with fiber "hooks" to grab lint and dust but some also have loops in the fibers. With open pore finishes (such as an Ibanez AC240) I've had the fiber grab the wood and tear out a wood fiber.

It should never happen and the wood should not have a sharp fiber to snag but it did happen and, since then I avoid them on guitars!

I buy them 10 (12?) Rolls at a time at Costco and have done so for years. They are no ordinary paper towel.

Forgive my ignorance, but what distinguishes them from ordinary paper towels. I've used ordinary paper towels for years and wonder what I'm missing.

Thanks.

I’m just curious, how do you all use these blue Scott paper towels? Are they used to actually buff or clean a lacquered surface? Applying polish or compound?

I do know body shops use paper towel products.......

They do not shred or leave behind particles. They hold up well with any solvent. They do not loose their integrity when wet.

I've used them for years to apply polishing compound to new build, lacquer finished guitars, and to clean small spots. I keep a box of small pre cut pieces, roughly 2" by 3" in the shop. For day to day cleaning of whole guitars though, I always seem to use soft cotton cloth material.
