You could get a rise out of almost anyone with a sensitive rendition of "I Just Don't Look Good Naked, Anymore." Really. It's a funny tune. And VERY self-deprecating. Simple to play. I'm sure you can find it on YouTube.

I refer, of course, to the Smokey Greene version.

Hmmm. All the suggestions are songs from the '50s, '60s, and '70s. Thats a lot of old old music. What's the demographics of your crowd?
Sweet Caroline is your ace in the hole. Almost always turns into a big sing-along. |

I would say that you can get away with anything that has a catchy chorus (if you want a sing along). At my last couple of public performances I played songs that no one would probably know, but invited the audience to sing the choruses once they had picked them up - worked a treat! Of course, it is going to depend on your performance techniques as much as the material.
Oh yes - and cheesy country songs always go down well (Lucile, Jolene, Country Roads, Achy Breaky, Wagon Wheel, Song of the South etc....)
