Default SOLD - Santa Cruz VJ 2019 Hot Hide glue, Adi/Mahogany - Price cut

Santa Cruz VJ

Here we have a 2019 Santa Cruz VJ in excellent condition. I got this in a trade and I’ll tell you what. I’d be keeping it if it was a short scale. This is an amazing slope shoulder. Santa Cruz is really putting out some great stuff right now. Their quality is amazing. I had one of these back in 2006 and this 2019 is at another level. Looks as good inside as it does on the outside. It’s basically like a Gibson AJ in mahogany on steroids.

Custom Features: Hot hide glue, Adirondack Bracing
Adirondack top
Honduran Mahogany back and sides
Nut is 1 11/16”
Bridge is 2 3/16”
Scale is 25.375”
Awesome Ameritage Case.
Trades considered, Pre-War Guitar Co. 000-18, 000-28, Martin 000-18A, 000-28V. Please let me know what you have...

Thanks
Joseph

The back looks like East Indian Rosewood. If its mahogany, its the darkest I've ever seen.

I think it’s just the stain. Grain looks like mahogany to me.

No affiliation, but I have one of these (also a 2019) and it is a terrific guitar. I think among the best bang for the buck SCGC offers in terms of both simple but very high quality looks and great sound. These guitars will do it all, and my back (also mahogany) is very dark like yours. Looks great, and SCGC does a great burst as well. GLWS!

Terry

Hey thanks for the great response. The back and sides are a beautiful dark stained Mahogany in keeping with the vintage Gibson look.

Santa Cruz just got back to me this morning. They said that this VJ was customized with Adi bracing and hot hide glue. All other specs are standard. Which should mean that it is Adi top which is what their web site says is standard for the VJ starting in 2019. But I sent back another request to confirm the top wood used. Guess I wasn’t clear in my original questioning..

Thanks
Joseph

Hot Hide glue, Adirondack bracing, and Adirondack top.
No wonder this thing sounds so good...

Got the same in a Santa Cruz VS - it is an outstanding combination of materials, and Santa Cruz puts them together beautifully. Anyone picking this up is bound to get a fantastic guitar - and the price is great, too!

I’ve had a lot of interesting trade offers. Nothing yet a good fit.
