Question Replacing pickups on Squire Affinity

I have the China build gold letter squire. I bought some Wilkinson pickups for it and found that the old pickups have one wire and the new has two ...the hot and the ground.

Would the way to hook the new pickups would be to hook up the hot wires to the switch making note which wire goes to which pickup, on the old ones and hook the ground wires to the ground on the pot or the one on the bridge?

I just replaced the pickups on my Squire affinity Telecaster.

All your pickups have 2 wires….its just that on the cheap affinity pickups, the 2 wires are within 1 wire wrap, splitting at the end near where they cry connect.

But in general, you are correct… though I believe there are are some scenarios where both of a pickups wires go to different parts of a switch…you need to consult a wiring diagram online…or pay attention to where you remove the old wires from.

Thumbs up Got it Done

I was able to replace the pickups wiring the way I said. They worked when I tested them.

Thanks for posting.

I don't have a pic handy maybe later...
I have a pre-2000's Affinity Burst
That I put a Stew-Mac 2- P90 pickguard on Mitey Mite P90's ..Creme in color
also changed out the knobs to creme to match
Blocked the trem for a more stable tuning platform( I used to run 13-56's on it)
Used that guitar in our Band for over 5 years, it sits in its case at the moment since I move over to a Epiphone ES339 LTD limited P90
