Here's the latest from Patrick. We now have some bracing for the top. With the top and back braced, certainly the box will be coming together soon.

Ya know what bugs me about this guy? So messy, I wish he would do cleaner work!

I had a weak moment - you can clearly see the mess in the left corner, neatly assembled and out of the way. Lol |

This build thread has been awesome to read through. Some stunning pictures for sure. I went to graduate school in Springfield, MA and wish I would have been into guitar at that time, as I would have loved to have stopped by Patrick's shop to check it out. Enjoy the rest of this process!

Late to Update
Everyone, Well...I guess I should have updated this thread sooner, but let's just say there were a few delays on both sides of the "custom build Isle" and as such it is what it is. That said, this guitar is now finished. So I want to add a few of the missing "process" pics, and then in my next post I will give you all the completed pics with some comments from my 40 year veteran luthier who is Taylor and Martin certified. His comments will give you an outsider's point of view on this guitar and the builder.
So here are a few from the build process now completed: Check out the very cool herringbone trim on the inside braces!! Oversize Gold EVO frets surrounding Patrick's own two tone (MOP/Paua Abalone diamonds. I haven't seen numbered pins very often What I see in Patricks work is a level of "attention to detail" that is really rare and that I have not seen often over the past several hundred guitars I've owned from some pretty well known builders both custom and otherwise. I think as you look at the photos, you'll see a level of perfectionism that is readily accepted in a custom build. The next post will provide some finished photos. Stay tuned!

Finished pics
Here are the completed pictures. I promised in my last post that I would provide comments from my 40 year veteran luthier. Before you read his comments, realize that this guy has not only worked on virtually every kind of guitar known to man during his tenure, but I have taken almost every guitar I've had built, as well as almost every guitar I've bought over the past bunch of years. So, his comments are with a TON of experience. As he talked about it, I recorded his comments and here are a few excerpts
--"I'm amazed at this guy's attention to detail" --"his quality and attention to detail has got a lot on Taylor" --"the neck is perfectly straight...not like most builder's guitars I've seen over the years that have bumps or curves or whatever" --"I don't think I've ever seen a nut more precisely set than that one" --"look at the detail on the inside of that guitar...wow!" --"the tone is just amazing, and the sustain is really special" --"I've never seen better work on the fretboard and the finishing of the frets than what I'm seeing here" --"Mike, you need to plan to KEEP this one!!" Here are the completed pictures:

Thanks again Tom for the "heads up" on a great builder . If anyone knows their guitars and builders, it is you. You surround yourself with only the best of the best.
