Which 18 did you get? (00018GE or standard 00018)
The standard. I had no idea what I'd bring home when I started. I tried the GE along with every other Martin in the 4k range. Kinda weird aint it, all that eye and ear pretty to choose from and come home the basics.
ps.... The balance is special and was a major factor in my decision.

The only 000 I have ever played is my standard 000-28.
It's balanced (treble to base),has great tone, clarity and feel with just the right amount of overtones.

Not sure I could really say it is my favorite as it is the only one I have ever played.
I was shopping to replace a stolen Taylor and was shown this Martin 000-28EC. It was sort of love at first sight. I have had it now for several months and this thing is
great. Plus I like it a lot.

Not on the list was the pre plastic fingerboard and bridge, and downgraded tuners... 000-16S GT. I owned one of the early ones with ebony bits and Waverly tuners before the downgrade in fittings and concurrent increase in price.

Is 000-16SGT discontinued?

Of the 000's I've played, the 000-18GE appealed most to me. I played one that was a monster. It was not the most subtle of guitars, in my hands, but boy was it powerful, and toneful.

I've had an SP000-16R for 15 years. I play it every day!

Most people like your choice too. 000-18GE so far gets most votes.

I'm one of the many who voted for the 000-18GE.
The Golden Era's are great.
Can someone tell me how long they have been making them?
I saw Rich-rmyAddison had a 10yr old model. Anybody know when they started?

Full production of the 000-18GE 1937 began in 2006; a few prototypes were built in 2005.

Have you ever tried 000-28EC? What is the main difference?
Thanks!

I also have a nice looking 000 Custom (Limited Edition) with an abalone rosette and style 45 back strip purfling, and also sounds pretty good, as well. I gave it to my grandson to use, as I'm teaching him to play. He likes it better than the dread he was using.

Did he learn classic music?

I have played a couple of the EC's. The main difference is the modified neck with 3/4" nut width and the heavier overtones. Great guitar but I prefer the plain 000-28.
