Favorite Martin 000
Which current Martin 000 model do you like the MOST?
Why do you pick that?? Last edited by mrkpower; 07-01-2013 at 02:30 PM. |

000-16SSRGT (OK, no longer standard so I picked the 000-16GT)
Simple appearance. Ebony board. Slotted headstock. 12-fret Rosewood. Everything I'm looking for in a smaller body guitar and nothing I'm not

FYI, the only 000's in the Standard Series are the 000-18, 000-28, and the 000-42, but I see by the choices listed that you mean off-the shelf, not custom shop, 000's (I think).
Which let's me vote for the 000-15S(M) - I love the tradition, elongated all-mahogany tone, the light weight, and the playability; and it complements my rosewood OM-21 (000-size), a different animal altogether. And as a bonus, the "S" designation in the model name stands for "standard" - and you can't get more standard than that. |

I've owned a lot more expensive Martins, my 10 year old 000-18GE is a wonderful guitar.
And yes, most of the guitar on the list are not "standard" models, but that's OK.

I picked 000-42.
Not sure why you listed OM-18A 1933, which I would have selected...but since you didn't include OM-28, and the like, I figured to stick true to the 000-short scale. Scolloped braces, Mod-V, 1 3/4" neck. great playability and tone. |

A fun poll, but an OM is still not an 000............

I agree, but better ask Mr. Martin why some OMs are put in there:

I've owned 4 Martins, still own two--both 000 18s. One is a 2003. The other a 65.
I love the 18s. Plain and simple.

That is weird that they have OM's in there. The OM-18A and the CS-OM-13 are both included in that sort. Strictly speaking, they are not 000's, but show up on that page. I suspect that whoever categorized those for the website is more of an IT person than a guitar tech person. Martin muddies the waters in other ways too, for instance the long scale 16 Series guitars.
Of the ones in this poll, the OM-18A would be an easy choice for me. It has the lightest build of all, plus other vintage features that fit my playing style. I'd also expect it to be very powerful for its size. If we restricted it to more traditional 000's I'd narrow it down to the 000-18GE in a 14 fret and the 000-28VS in a 12 fret. The 12 fret would probably win. I like the 12 fret tone, and I can't recall playing a bad example of a 000-28VS. |

My favorite isn't on there - it's the 000-28H, which is essentially a 000-28EC with a modern profile neck and no Eric Clapton signature anywhere on it.
Those are still being made and are sold through Elderly Instruments. But since that one doesn't appear on your list, I voted for the Clapton model. Wade Hampton Miller |

Favorite 14-fret, short scale: 000-42 Favorite 14-fret, long scale: OM-18A (played one this weekend at Boston GC) Although, I very much like my CS OM28MM, but the OM-28 isn't on the list or Martin chart (???). Favorite 12-fret: 000-28VS (or in my case, 000-42VS). Three completely different guitars, each with something they do better than the others. Right now, with what I'm playing, I'd still go with the 000-42. Two or three months ago, I almost sold my 000-42, thinking I wouldn't play it much moving forward. Over the past two years, it has the most playtime. In another month...who knows |

I voted 00018 because I own one, but I've liked nearly every Martin 000 that I've played. There's just something about that body size...such a pure acoustic tone.
I'm hoping to get a 00028 some day to go with my 00018. |

Thank's for the heads up on that model Wade. I really like the sound of the 000-28EC, but the nasty sharp V-neck hurts my hand. Not a fan of people's signatures on my guitars either. (exception for the actual Builder signing the label)
