Plus 1 on those thoughts Rick, especially the highlighted. Makes for a better forum section in the long run IMHO.

Well I've only posted here a couple of times, and one of those was my recent link to myspace with my songs on.

Before that post I hadn't really been here, but I was aware of the 'area'.

Now I've asked other people to listen to my songs, I'm making the effort to listen to other people, but, I admit, I haven't made many comments yet.

I hereby promise to comment more!

My 2 cents on non-member U2'b postings:

First, I don't think they are that prevalent to warrant banishment. Having said that, I have resisted doing it as a new member, not knowing what people thought of it.

There is a guy on YouTube, that I recently discovered, Iggypres, and he does some of the most fantastic arrangements of popular songs you'll ever hear (in my opinion, of course). But I hesitate to post a link out of respect

An example is his cover of a Lady Gaga song, Poker Face. Now, I'm sure just about everybody who frequents this forum would not even think about looking at a Lady Gaga video, much less a cover. But if you listen to his arrangement and forget who the original artist is, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I will likely continue to resist posting links to other people's stuff, but that's just me. If the stuff is good, then sharing it with others here goes with the theme, Show and Tell. I see no harm in it, in moderation, of course.

I have no problem with the position of the "Show an Tell." I always serach for what is most important to me and I'll find it anywhere. I've only posted on "Electric" once. Never on "Taylor." The position of the forum on the page means nothing to me.

But I would like more separation between our music and music of others (pros). I'd perfer separation of ours into , "Instrumentals", "Covers," and "Origianls", but I fear that's losing battle. (It would make me a much more regular participant in discussion on songwriting. Right now I'm hap-hazard, because it takes so long to sort through the din to find what I have most interest in.)

OK. I know some others don't agree with my "separation" suggestion. Anybody want to take a poll?

The only thing to do with good advice is pass it on. It is never any use to oneself. (Oscar Wilde)

Stop me before a quote again!

It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious. (Oscar Wilde)

Here's a good one for this section:

You know, I love a good quote and I could post dozens of my favorites.

But I won't.

I wouldn't banish them, just have a sub-forum for them - "AGF non-member music and videos."

If quoting is the worst thing you do "under the influence," you're doing okay.
