Default What's your favorite electric guitar...

I read the shortened version of Dru's thread about pickups, and thus this idea was born.

You only have time to save one as you're running out of the burning house, and your insurance will reimburse you for the ones left behind (and your family, pets, and acoustics, have already been safely evacuated) which one do you grab.

I've never spent a ton of money on electrics. But my favorite continues to be my Fender MIJ factory hardtail strat, "E" serial number. I bought it NOS in about '98, put Fender '57/'62 pickups in it, and it just works for me. My favorite neck I've ever played on an electric. The wood is pretty plain, but it feels right to me (though I so rarely play electric these days).

There's an ES-335 I fell in love with and my wife bought for me.

The neck is just right for my style. Wide fingerboard and shallow neck. Lovely. It is now the center of my studio kit.

'16 G5622T-CB Electromatic (MIK) - my road warrior for the last six years, most likely for the foreseeable future, and I'll probably score another as backup when I get back into gigging again (yeah, they are that good):

ES-335, but it might drop a notch. I've got my eye on a Les Paul.

The LP can do jazz nearly as well as the 335, it does blues, country, and classic rock just as well, and it can do hard rock a bit better than a 335 can.

Warfrat, great thread. Gibson Les Paul is my favorite. I'm also a huge SG fan. They both feel 'home' to me, both in comfort and in tone.

Here's one of my Les Pauls, a Studio.

Another hardtail strat guy. Mine's a Robert Cray, but with modified tone controls and the neck from a Classic Player 50s swapped in for the original neck. I bought my first strat about a year or less into playing electric guitar and from that time (about 45 years ago) I've rarely played anything else. I have a second electric, but I play the strat about 95-99% of the time.

I've owned this Rickenbacker 650D ('Dakota') for over 20 years. Many others have come and gone, but I could be quite happy with this one alone.

I have an 86 MIJ E series Strat (St-362V), which is billed as a vintage 62 reissue. It's not, mostly because of the Basswood body and ceramic pick ups, as compared to Alder body and Alnico pickup in a real 62. These guitars are made in the highly-regarded FujiGen plant in Japan and they are known for superior craftsmanship. Cool Guitar.

With that said my current favorite is, and has been for years, my 75 Strat. Not a great pic but here it is.

The guitar I learned the most on, had the most fun playing and still enjoy twenty five years later.
1997 American Special VooDoo Stratocaster.

Probably the one I would grab would be my Pelham Blue LP P90. 20220406_192902.jpg
