Default Martin 000-18

I just purchased this a couple weeks ago and I’m putting this out sort of as a feeler, but the GAS for the new Taylor 717 is strong.

2018, purchased new. Strings are Santa Cruz mid tension. This is a great sounding example of a 000-18, but GAS has me hooked.

$1699 plus shipping

Are you insane!!!!!
Are you under psychiatric evaluation?
Are you posting from a state mental institution?
Do you need one of us to come and get you?
Are you in a straight jacket ?

Why? I thought they’ve been using the same tuners since 2012?

Because the 000-18 is so amazing, or because the 717 isn’t that awesome? Just curious!?

1. A quick Google search of the serial number will resolve the mystery of model year, for ya. If your number is greater than "2258889," it's a 2019 build.

2. I thoroughly enjoy reading your threads, as you put into written word what I battle in my head, regularly. We're both insane.

3. Having a new 000-18, myself...I can't fathom the idea of offloading it. That may change later...but right now, it is the most versatile guitar I own. The first one I grab, after work. The most suited to play anything I feel like, with the ability to change type or style without having to change guitars.

4. Most importantly - best of luck on your hunt, even if it means getting rid of a lifetime guitar! The struggle is real, I know.

Going off the Martin website, it’s a 2017. The first 3 numbers are 224

No, sir.....yours is a 2018.

The serial numbers listed on the Martin site highlight the LAST number made for any given year.

The last serial number for a 2017 model is: 2161732

The last serial number for a 2018 model is: 2258889

If the first three numbers on yours is "224," it's a 2018 model.

The first three of mine is "226," so that tells me it's a 2019 model.

Make sense?

What's crazy...when you do the quick math...is to see that Martin cranked out 97,000+ guitars in 2018. That's a lot of tuning pegs!!!!!

Hope this helps.

I get it. BUT, this might be a sale you look back on with some regret.
Hey, I'm going out to Nashville next month, so I'm expecting some major GAS pains!

Any version of the 000-18 is worth hanging on to in my opinion. I rarely plug my retro in and in fact when I bought it didn't. I was so caught up in the way it played and sounded I didn't think about it till I got home.

Is the guitar not still in a return period?

I guess this is why I don't buy sight-unseen.
