I left Austin 30 years ago, and when I left I would have recommended Mark and Strait music. They've both been around a while. Mark maintains Trigger as much as Willie will let him.

Thanks for following up with us. Can you tell me the name of the tech who performed the work?

The guys at Austin Vintage Guitars should also be mentioned. They restore lots of vintage stuff, so they have the chops for sure. Jared Allison built guitars for a number of years with his dad. The wait can be pretty long though.

Jared's my boy. He really knows his stuff when it comes to restoration, especially vintage acoustic guitars. He's worked on a number of guitars of mine, especially my electric guitars. A few years ago he set up my Strat better than anyone had before. It was never my favorite guitar, but it felt so good to play after the setup that I started playing it at shows all the time.

AVG is an interesting shop. Every time I go there, I usually see something surprising and unique. They've gone through a few amp techs over the last few years. The repair peeps they have now are top-tier, but there was a dude a while back who I wasn't a huge fan of.

It's nice to live in a guitar town, isn't it?
