I still enjoy “Logan’s Run” - the one with Michael York.

But not as funny as the unintentional comedy that is Battlefield Earth.

Are these movies in the running? If not, what would you call them?

Time Bandits
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
The Fisher King

All great films IMHO.

12 Monkeys, Blade Runner, Brazil and Alien are my favorites from that list. Many of the others I found enjoyable, but not so memorable.

Interesting list. '2001' is one of my "dad" memories - he took my 12-year-old self to see it in the theater in '68 along with my younger sister. She fell asleep; I was mesmerized - that right there is a microcosm of people's reactions to the film. It remains my favorite of all time.

I've seen most (at least 90%) of those films at least once - the others I'll put on my Netflix watch list. I tend to give 'real' scifi (those films deeply rooted in science) higher scores, though. 'Arrival' and 'Contact' would move way up on my list - I particularly liked 'Arrival' because of its unique premise. 'The Martian' would also move way up.

All great films IMHO.
They all have Terry Gilliam in common too. His last one, The Zero Theorem, with Christoph Waltz, should qualify as Sci-Fi too.

I like all of Gilliam's movies.

I am looking forward to his Don Quixote movie.
