#11 - Tassie Blackwood/Sinker Redwood GA

[Rod True]

This marks Guitar # 11 for me. The woods (apart from the top and inlay woods) was purchased back in 2007 from an OLF auction to help out our Friend Kevin Gallagher (rip). Here are the details:

Top - Sinker Redwood
Back & Sides - Flamed Tasmanian Blackwood
Neck - Tasmanian Blackwood with lacewood and red laminates
Fretboard - Mulga a desert hardwood bound in tiger myrtle with red purfling
Bridge - Minnerichi
Binding & headplate - Tiger Myrtle
Top purfling - Lacewood with red accents
Inlay wood - pear burl

The rosette is based off Jason Kostal's stained glass design. I really like this look and will certainly use it again.

Finish is nitro lacquer.

Nice one Rod, as Stephen K said "There are some great woods, down under!" Certainly if one of the voices in my head said that was not beautiful the other one would definitely tell me to shut the hell up.

The only thing I don't like about the looks of it is the Florentine cutaway.

I'm a big fan of Tasmanian Blackwood. I like the idea of combining it w/ the Sinker Redwood. Very nice selection of woods for the edge binding too.

What is the signature on the fretboard? (never mind..I just saw the caption on the photo)

Does it sound as good as it looks?

No, this one is spoken for as are all the guitars I'm building for the next few years. I'm just a hobby builder and I'm lucky to get one guitar out a year.

And that's ok about the cutaway. Not everyone likes the fabulous florentine, which is good, that way the guys who build venetian cutaways can sell some too
