Default New Audio Interface...

Hey Acoustic Guitar Forum,

I'm looking to upgrade from my M Audio Firewire Solo to something a bit bigger, so I can track live more often. I need something with at least 4 mic pre's (or 2 mic pre's and 2 line in's), but ideally, 8 mic pres. Firewire or USB, compatible with a mac. Not bothered about MIDI or having many outputs, other than phones and a stereo out. My main thing is reasonably clear and decent sounding mic pre's. I'm most likely going to buy used. My current thoughts are:
Tascam US-600
Tascam US-800
Tascam US-1641
Tascam US-1800
Tascam US-2000
Presonus Firestudio Mobile
Presonus Firepod

Ideally I'd like something less than $300 used. Around $200 would be ideal. I have a friend with a US-1641 who gets great results.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Alex

Thanks! I'll definitely check out the Focusrites. I have a friend who uses one of their smaller interfaces for live electric guitar through Mainstage and has no issues with it, and another friend who is a studio engineer and he uses Focusrite pres on all the vocals he records, so they seem like a solid and reliable company. Thanks!

Hi Alex- I have a Tascam US-800 that I like a lot. In fact, I like it so much that it is for sale. It's a great sounding unit and there is nothing else near the price for six channel simultaneous USB recording. I'm selling it because I'm more interested in doing live field recordings, sp I'm going to get an all-in-one solution to work without a computer. Send me a PM, or better yet, email me if you're interested.
