Not too serious here!
As others have pointed out, the idea goes back further than any of us. It's a very small creative move IMO. I never imagined it was original to me. No one is likely to confuse my work with his. Mine's not a double top. If he'll buy this one I'll promise not to make another. I've got more one liners if needed.

I've been seeing those three rings in several math books as well -- and I haven't studied math in many years now.
Pretty ironic how a guy who uses some other guy's double top idea is whining about having to share a rosette design -- on the very same page. |

Jimmy Oh, and +1 on Schertler tuners. I have them on 2 guitars (an archtop and a classical), I think they are great working and great looking tuners. Very high quality.

John Bonham used the 3 ring logo way back when which signifies the relationship between man, woman and child... |

John Bonham ????? Are we talking about the John Bonham ??? ie drummer nonpareil, and the powerhouse behind Led Zeppelin ? Somehow, he never struck me as a 3 ring logo kind of guy ... |

to lighten the mood, have you guys seen the movie called "The Hudsucker Proxy" about the man who invented the hula hoop? Hilarious, but he draws a circle on a piece of paper and that's the design for his hula hoop. He shows it to people and when they look at him like hes crazy for saying he is inventing the circle, his response is, "you know, for the kids".
Reminds me of the rosette here. its just circles. how does one claim ownership of a geometric shape? pretty little guitar.

I bet Bruce never visualised the thread going down this route ...
But there's no denying that it's been illuminating. |

Beautiful guitar Bruce.
I love those tuners. Your rosette is nice also, I just wish you had not stolen it from me. I was just about to come up with that on my own. I think I first visualized it in another life a few centuries ago. The three interwoven circles has been used from the 13th century as a symbol for the Trinity. If you give me that guitar I will forgive you and call it even. BTW - How did the show off session go today?

I like the way the grain dives across the bevel of the soundport, such nice grain needs as much exposure as possible.

Nah...if the butterfly returns, it will either have STDs, serious emotional issues, or need to borrow money.

Finished pictures:
Today I took this little gem down to the nearby offices of a well known magazine so they can create a video presentation with it. I had to turn around and come back to the shop because in my excitement I neglected to take any pictures of the completed guitar. It might surprise you to know how many of my guitars have left the shop forever (hopefully) before I managed to get out the camera. Actually, I am getting better about that!
Anyway, here are some pictures (more at my website, of course): Here you can actually make out the run out if you squint. Last edited by Bruce Sexauer; 11-14-2012 at 04:24 PM. |
